The roots are intact to provide you with the freshest herbs you can buy. You will have a longer shelf life because our herbs are still alive!
|
| We do not guarantee that the Living
Herbs will transplant successfully. You may certainly
try to replant the herbs; just make sure to leave a few
leaves on the plant to keep it alive. For replanting put
the plant inside a pot with fresh soil and water once
a day, making sure it has proper drainage. Since the plant
is greenhouse grown it is best to keep it inside until
it is producing new leaves. Some of our Herb varieties
will be more successful than others, avoid extreme temperature
changes for better results. |
|
Depending on the variety, our herbs should last between 10 and 16 days under proper refrigeration.
|
| The “dirt” is the growing media
that the roots grow in called peat moss. It is a natural
substance that is not harmful to your health. It is best
to always wash and pat dry the leaves before use, just
as you would do with all produce. |
|
We are not certified as organic. We grow our herbs using hydroponic techniques that have not been certified as organic at this time. However, we are pesticide free! We use IPM techniques (Integrated Pest Management) allowing us to produce all of our herbs without the use of pesticides.
|
| The “Enjoy by” date ensures that
your customer is purchasing fresh product each and every
time. |
|
We have found that Basil actually does better outside of the refrigerator, between 50° and 55°. Placing the Basil next to tomatoes or mushrooms for cross merchandizing has been proven not only to improve shelf life, but to also increase sales! All other herb varieties should be displayed in the cold case between 38° and 45°.
|
| The date on the box lets you know
when our herbs were packed; this makes it easy for your
warehouse inventory control to track. |
